Although it currently lacks a title, Tom Cruise’s next film has a confirmed release date. The untitled film, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and starring Cruise, John Goodman, and Jesse Plemons, is set to be released on October 2, 2026, according to Deadline. This release date replaces that of The Batman: Part II, which was originally scheduled for that date.
The untitled film will be presented in traditional theaters and IMAX, and it is currently the only major studio title scheduled for wide release on that weekend. Produced by Legendary, the film stars Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, Sophie Wilde, and Riz Ahmed. It tells the story of the most powerful man in the world as he undertakes a mission to prove he is the savior of humanity before a disaster, for which he is responsible, destroys everything.
This movie marks Tom Cruise’s next film with an official release date following “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” in which he will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt. This installment is the eighth in the franchise, which Cruise has been part of since 1996. “The Final Reckoning” is set for release on May 23, 2025, and serves as a follow-up to 2023’s “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.”
Mission: Impossible Update
Paramount Pictures, the studio behind the Mission: Impossible franchise, has released a featurette and a production set photo. The behind-the-scenes video showcases a significant stunt featured in the movie, which includes a scene filmed underwater. The photo highlights the extensive training that Tom Cruise underwent in preparation for this sequence. “The training and preparation we put into this film is a culmination of all previous films,” Cruise stated on his X account. “From the depths to the skies, I can’t wait to share more with you,”.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning
“Mission: Impossible 8” is the direct sequel to “Dead Reckoning – Part One” and serves as the eighth installment in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise. It is anticipated to be the final film in the series. Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and others will reprise their roles as members of Ethan Hunt’s IMF team as they confront a formidable adversary from their past.
